June's Bloom; The Rose and The Honeysuckle
Share
If you are born in June, then you are lucky to have not only one but two of the most fragrant flowers to celebrate your birthday. The rose and the honeysuckle.

The rose has different meanings about each color. Red roses are commonly associated with symbolizing love and passion and dating back to the Greek goddess Aphrodite who is said to have pricked her foot on the thorn of a white rose when her lover was wounded. The blood then turned the rose red forever, meaning love and devotion. In the 15th and 16th century England, the red rose became the symbol of the Tudor king.

Pink Roses are often associated with happiness, admiration, love, and gratitude. You will see pink roses in many great artworks of the Victorian Era. They are more sweet than romantic and are a great gift to give to mom, sister, or dear friend.

White roses have symbolized spirituality, purity, and innocence. Back to the legend of Aphrodite. It is said that when Aphrodite emerged from the sea, all the sea foam that fell from her body turned into white roses. You may be familiar with the term the War of the Roses. In medieval times the Yorks used the white rose as the symbol for their house, while their rivals, The Lancastrians' house used the red rose. White roses are most commonly used at Funerals and Weddings because of their association with spirituality.

Yellow Roses were discovered during the 1700s when the Europeans were traveling to the Middle East. Yellow roses symbolize friendship and appreciation and the perfect flower to give someone you care about without sending mixed signals.

Honeysuckle is a sweet and fragrant flower that also symbolizes happiness and a sweet disposition. Its sweet nectar is a favorite of the hummingbird. Having these beautiful flowers surrounding your gardens not only means the swift movements of the hummingbird will grace you, but it also means that your life is sweet and happy without much drama in between.
