Sustainability & Impact

Sustainability
I believe that handcrafted jewelry, regardless of price point, must consider its impact on the Earth and the environment.  It is imperative for the Aprilierre Jewelry to source materials from suppliers who have established a commitment to implementing safe environmental practices based on responsibly mining and working with small artisan communities.
Sustainability in Design
I offer quality handcrafted silver and gold jewelry using traditional metalsmithing techniques dating back centuries. By keeping the process classic, not 3D printing or casting my designs, I choose to recycle and melt my metals, reusing that into future designs, allowing for a more organic aesthetic. The aim is for zero waste of materials in the studio. I have also begun using citric acid, a natural alternative to some harmful chemical agents used in metalsmithing.

In the Studio
We all have to start somewhere, no matter how big or small the task. The Aprilierre studio now uses citric acid, a natural alternative to some harmful chemical agents often used in metalsmithing. Aprilierre Jewelry is actively taking steps to reduce energy waste in the studio by using power strips and unplugging all equipment when not in use.
Gemstones
In total transparency, gemstones are harder to trace back to their origins, and some I may have collected in the past will not have their sources validated. However, moving forward, Aprilierre is vetting all gemstone dealers and sourcing directly from trusted vendors who share the same goals of environmental sustainability.
Metals
Aprilierre Jewelry is using recycled and metals such as sterling silver, 14kt Gold Filled and Gold from trusted vendors properly aligning with fair trade mining.
