    Mays Gem Emerald
"Love is an emerald. Its brilliant light wards off dragons On this treacherous path." ~ Rumi
The Birthstone of May is Emerald. A gemstone of vibrant hues of green, a symbol of rebirth as spring awakens in May.

Many cultures have revered the Emerald. The Incas worshipped the stone; it sold in ancient Babylon markets; the mines in Egypt unearthed some of the oldest emeralds in the world, and Egyptians adorned royal crowns for hundreds of years.

Emerald is associated with the heart chakra, once known as the "stone of successful love," promoting friendship and balance between partners.   It is also a stone of great vision, enhancing memory and increasing mental clarity. The Emerald stands in the top four of precious gemstones, including the diamond, ruby, and sapphire.
Emeralds don't typically come across my jewelry bench, but when I found these tiny bright green emeralds, I couldn't resist adding them to my collection.
